Trade-in conditions

Your item must be in perfect condition
It must be clean, with no tears, holes, or stains.

Your item must not have been altered or tailored
All original components, such as buttons, belts, or other accessories, must be intact.

We only accept Maje items
The brand label and inner care/composition tags must be present.
We do not accept items from collections prior to 2019.
We do not accept items from the current season.

How does the online trade-in service work?

Our online trade-in service is available in France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands.

To be accepted, your item must be in perfect condition — we invite you to consult our trade-in conditions.

  • Select the pieces you wish to resell, then follow the online steps to create your account and identify the products you want to part with.
  • Once your trade-in request has been generated, simply print the transfer form, sign it, and include it in your parcel.
  • You must send us your items by post using the prepaid shipping label provided for this purpose. Please return your items carefully packed in the box of your choice.
  • Upon receipt of your parcel, our Quality Experts will inspect your items. If the trade-in conditions are met, you will be notified by email within 15 days, and the corresponding credit will be added to your Second Hand account. If several of your items are accepted, you will receive a credit equal to the total value of all approved items.
  • By logging into the “My Credits” section of your Second Hand account, you can generate one or more gift cards to use in store (except in the Netherlands), on maje.com, or on Maje Second Hand.

How will I receive the money for my trade-ins and do I have to wait until my item is sold to receive my credit?

Once your items have been checked and approved by our Quality Experts, you will receive your payment in the form of credit, available in your member area under the “My Credits” section. There’s no need to wait for your item to be sold!

You can then convert your credits into gift cards valid in:

France – Belgium – Spain – Germany

What are the acceptance criteria and do you return items deemed to be in poor condition?

We do not accept items purchased before the Fall/Winter 2019 collection. We also do not accept items from the current season.

  • Your items must be clean and in perfect condition (with working zippers, seams, and elastics) and show no holes, tears, stains, or odors.
  • Items must not have been altered, and no buttons or embellishments should be missing.
  • All items must include the brand label as well as the internal composition and care labels.
  • All products must be legally owned by the person submitting them for trade-in.

We accept three levels of condition:

  • New condition: the item still has all its original tags. It has never been worn or washed.
  • Excellent condition: the item is like new but no longer has the sales tag. It has been worn very lightly and shows no defects. It has not been washed more than three times.
  • Very good condition: the item has been worn occasionally and shows only minor signs of wear, invisible from 30 cm away.

We do not accept any items in other conditions – damaged, worn out, stained, torn, misshapen, dirty, or missing internal labels.
In accordance with our General Terms and Conditions of Sale, non-compliant items will be refused and will not be returned.
However, rest assured: these pieces will be given a second life through donations to charities or upcycling programs.

Are the sent items reconditioned?

Upon receipt of your items, our experts will authenticate them and check their condition.
Each item is returned to its saleable condition and re-labelled. It is cleaned and/or ironed using environmentally-friendly processes.
